Alexander Lumber Co. owned a lumber yard in Canton many years before acquiring the present facility now in operation in Canton. The first sales at the original Alexander facility in Canton occurred in May of 1901. The first full years sales were $48,000. L. M. Turner was the first manager.

The original Alexander facility was destroyed by a devastating fire in August of 1943, and the business was discontinued in Canton at that time. Alexander Lumber Co. returned to Canton in 1987with the purchase, extensive remodeling and expansion of the Sutton and Moore Home Center facility located at 406 South 5th Street.
Alexander Lumber Co. is looking forward to serving the Canton community for the next 100 years.
